Welcome to Saxophone Classics
Seasons Greetings for Chanukah and Christmas
to all our customers and much happiness for 2012
from Sarah Markham and the Saxophone Classics Team
As Artistic Director of Saxophone Classics, I am delighted to present my first CD for the label, "Run, Sing, Fly" featuring programmatic music for alto saxophone and piano. The concept of the album began with a desire to record my version of the modern classic "Fuzzy Bird Sonata" . I have endeavoured to capture the character of the bird in each movement, and express the freedom of the bird to move and sing. The other pieces on the CD have all been chosen because of their reflections of nature, country, or character.
I am also delighted to welcome to Saxophone Classics, world renowned saxophonist Otis Murphy. He brings to the label a CD of sheer magic and brilliance with his incredible technique, musical interpretation, and choice of repertoire. The CD also features his wife, Haruko Murphy on piano, with a special appearance by the Masato Kumoi Saxophone Quartet.
